Lost Without You
This is a video that was filmed over a year. The film depicts still natural landscapes scenes. At some point a rock shape figure appears in these scenes. I created a fake rock from chicken wire, expanding construction foam, papier mâché and paint. This sculpture has a hole at the bottom and two arm holes, so I can slip the sculpture over my head and poke my arms out. Inside this sculpture I dawn my alter-ego the City Cowgirl (she wears a high cut 80’s bright pink swim suit, cowboy boots, and a fringe suede jacket). This figure wanders in the natural scenes seemingly looking for a place of comfort and yet it can’t seem to be found. The video narrative is odd and even absurd, it’s an identity crisis that is absurd, ambiguous, funny and sad all at the same time. scelerisque in.
